Our parents previously lived in a village setting, just outside of Worcester. There were many benefits to living in Kempsey – however as their confidence with driving reduced, the feeling of isolation increased.
One of the benefits of living at Whiston Court was the ease of access to Worcester City Centre. My dad, in particular, liked the fact that he and a number of other residents could easily access Worcester Country Cricket Club. On match days he would either catch the bus or use his mobility scooter to travel down the high street, along the river and across the bridge to the cricket ground.
Being in such a central location was a new experience for my parents. They both found that it gave them a new lease of life and a desire to engage in many aspects of city life.
